Sweet ratty looking VW.

Sweet ratty looking VW.

I’m pretty sure I’ve posted this a time or two, but I built this 1960 VW Bug in around 1989.  The drivetrain was the original 36HP engine with the unsynchronized 1st gear trans.  Originally it was a baby blue, but I repainted it in teal blue & white.  It came from Iowa and I had to replace practically every panel on it.  As you can see in the picture, at this point the right rear fender wasn’t finished and it didn’t have running boards on it yet. This started my VW obsession. After I got this I also ended up with two rail dune buggies, a 67 red Bug, a black 66 Baja Bug, and a storage room full of NOS parts when I bought out an old timers VW parts collection.  I ended up selling everything in a bundled package to a guy who wanted to get into Volkswagens and I used the money to buy a car I still have over twenty years later.
