I posted a couple photos of this yesterday, but here is the entire set. This is one sweet old Ford Dually.
If you’ve followed my blog for very long you’ll know that I’m extremely fond of 1960s Lincolns and that I’ve previously owned five of them - a 65, a 69, and three 68s, one of which was my first car and was stolen in 2010 right as I was planning to pull it out of retirement and begin a resto-mod build. I’m still reeling from the Lincoln theft and the loss of my truck in 2007 but, I digress…
This car is as close to perfect as one can get. While silver isn’t my favorite color it looks nice on this car. Usually I don’t like big wire wheels, but a slab side Lincoln is one of the few cars that can pull off that look. This appears to be a fairly well optioned car, I see that it’s got the power vent windows; the only options I don’t see are cruise, the automatic headlight dimmer, and the center hump mounted 8 track player. This car must have been well taken care of as the interior door pulls, arm rests, and headliner are mint. If you know these cars well you’ll know that it’s common to have issues with ‘em. Also, this is an early production car as it’s still got the early MEL 462 engine, which was replaced mid year by the 385 series 460.
Sure, I know the early 61 - 65 cars and especially the 61 - 63 models are considered to be some of the most beautiful cars ever built, but the 68 will always hold a special place in my heart. I have fond memories of traversing the country in these cars on family vacations when I was young and I can still vividly recall when and where my father and I were when each the three we had were purchased.
Ahh, memories…

In a brief shaft of sun on 26 August 1967, Tebay Banker 75039 awaits her next duty. She was withdrawn in the next month.
Over on Flickr, Railroad Bob2010 says: “i fireed this loco 75039 at tebay shed i was on loan from carlisle upperby 12B 1967… 70000 70013 70044 bad locos would not steam good 70013 should have cut it up , 70022 100% good loco we had 20 briys at upperby12B”
I love it when people come out of the woodwork to comment like that on pictures like this. Going to post a couple more gems from Bob later, too…
